This is a test version of GEDA's new design. We are not sure if we are going to keep working to finish this one yet. For right now we are testing the chromeless pop-up windows to see how it will work out. So please let us know what you think of it so far. We tried to find a scroll script to work together with it...it anyone know of a good scroll script that works good together with the chromeless pop-up window please point us in the right direction. For now please take a look:

That chromeless window is sweet! Is it cross browser compatible? Really nice. It's not what I'm used to from your other stuff when talkin about the design inside the window. I see what you're goin for but there's too many different styles in there that are keeping me from totally diggin it. Looks like you're leaning a lot more to the pixel/square style that so popular but there's elements in there of your old 3D, square orderly designs and some 2D stuff that doesn't really mesh with the pixel/square style either. I think it just makes it a little busy to my eye.

I think what Reve was smack-talkin about is: http://www.eyeballdesign.com/index3.htm very similar to the geda-online home page. I think what Reve hasn't considered is the extreme popularity of the eyeball and the sphere among art lovers. Pretty common theme but hardly a rip-off.

I don't believe this, allgood. You ripped your own site. Unbelievable. How desperate are you?

lol, just kidding, of course. =) Since I last clicked the link (yesterday), it seemed you've changed the font size and fixed some formatting problems that were there. I like the style in general. Are you preloading your mouseover images? There seems to be a bit of a lag.

It's a bit annoying to have the links open in yet another new window. I assume that will be changed if the design is used.

In all, it's nice, but I think your older design was better. Except for the colors, that is... this one is brighter, I like that.

Wanting to have a quick loading and easier to navigate through. All I can say is that learning is what it's all about and then you listen from the best you learn more.

Thanks for taking a look and for your great advice.

Deffinatly not a rip of eyeballdesign.com, the only similarity is the sphere.

No, i was referring to http://www.eyeball-design.com , which is a different site, made by a different person. Allgood used the same cats eye design, There are some differences, but he basically copied the design.

Krets: My post may have been confusing, but i think you should do what you told me to do.

Muraman: No, Allgood didnt do http://www.eyeball-design.com , it was done by i assume, Ryan Lacdao.

JKMabry: Maybe i jumped the gun a litttle bit, but normally, when a newer company pops up using the same basic idea for a splash page, its a bit odd. Spheres and Eyes, they are popular, but http://www.eyeball-design.com is the only site ive ever seen that used the Cat eye, in a metallic type interface.

Slime: hmm, i think you were confused with what i was saying.

Jestah: if you take a look around http://www.eyeball-design.com , you'll see that every one of his designs is basically the same style. If you put http://geda-online.com image in eyeball-designs portfoilo, you wouldnt know the difference, now when that happens, i think the similarity is a little to much. I dont know, sort of a confusing way of putting it.

If you can point me to any designs that was copied (meaning I took it and just touched it up) please point it out to me. I have you know that I have been here way longer than you have and my site has been up for way longer than you will ever know. Maa did the design for the front page and I myself know that she will never copy anyones work. She maybe was inspire by him but, definately didn't copy anything. An eye is an eye and it not even copyright. Tell me when you are coming by and I ill have my photoshop open for you to sit and see what this old man can do for you. Also...thanks for visiting our site.
Also, I'm not saying I'm the best of the best...but, I know I'm alot farther than years ago.

if using a sphere in the splash screen is suddenly considered "ripping off" eyeball...umm....me thinks even Doc is guilty of that. i'd guess that almost everyone here has used a sphere in their designs before...shit. well, reve, thanks for straightening that out for us.

besides, reve, eyeball hasn't done anything new in years, it seems. even if this were considered a ripoff of him, he deserved it for making a good design and then never ever changing it.

Thanks twItch^ ...guess he thinks everyone has to copy someone...if that's true...tell me Reve...who did Eyeball copy when he got started? Is that the eye that he thought of or is this eye been here since who know when. Did eyeball think of this eye in the 1900's...if so then man I wish I would have thought of it before him. But, as to being original...who realy knows who is the original person anyways. Do you really know that eyeball is the original? If so, tell me how do you know and give me your source?

Another thing you said that caught my eye on your thread:
Jestah: if you take a look around http://www.eyeball-design.com , you'll see that every one of his designs is basically the same style.

Everyone of our designs is basically the same style...I would hope so cause it's a style we came up with from learning from the great ones. And I know who I learned alot from and that's Doc...he was the first one I wanted to be like anyways. But, there's only one Doc. and there will be only one eyeball and there will only be one Allgood and Maa of course too.

Another thing...I'm also glad that you think my work looks like eyeballs...I take that as a compliment...cause if it looks that good then I must be doing something right.

As for your new design, I like it a lot, very good layout, but I must say that it seems very flat and monotinous to me, it puts me to sleep. Personally I would be more tempted to enter the site and look around if it had some depth (or at least a little more contrast).

Looking at the tutorials theres nothing that warrents a rip, at least give me a link that shows the rip. Both sites are fairly large and they both ahve lots of images ...

Love the chromeless piece! Absolutely beautiful! Does it work in Netscape?

2nd: I have been aware of both Eyeball Design and GEDA for quite some time now.....and besides a couple similarities on a basic level, do not see a lot of correlation. Certainly not enough of one to accuse someone of being a rip off, especially someone who has been around for such a long time. Any way, who's to say Ryan (from Eyeball design) did not see GEDA and rip them off?

Whatever.

Nice work as always guys

everyone is ripping everyone these days...it's like painting. you come up wif a cool style of lettering. and someone will copy you. but then . hey isnt that the hole point of tagging. to get yourself noticed. i think its the same with webdesign. mmm shit yeah isent everything like that.. the best get noticed and the newbies tag along..always the same...[/rant]

First off, I've known Allgood for quite some time now, and remember when he met Maa and they really took off with GoldenEye. I also know Ryan, and remember when he hit the scene. Seems Ryan hit with more of a splash, but I think Allgood preceded him. Trust me on this one, Allgood & Maa are GOOD, with all capitals. So is Ryan. We may have similarities, but most likely related to similar themes from the core. 'Nuff said about that.

Well, I tried looking at this first on Netscape with the Mac, and crashed my browser each and every time. Here's something silly and stupid to look for, check to make sure any <font> tags you use are both opened and closed proper, it shouldn't really mater, but it's been seen before. (Hmm. Anyone tried this with NS+PC?)

I'd like to see a bit more contrast, somewhere at least. I like contrast! The whole thing was very neat and sharp, but too much washed out tints for my taste. Maybe high contrast for the mouseovers?

Did anyone else try minimizing this window? That was cool! That was *really* cool! Unfortunately, once you do this, all navigation is gone, there is no way to maximize it again, and the only way out is to close the window with your [X] box. I do like the fact that while you have to "launch", you don't have to launch a new window, that was good. Let's take this further to v2.1, I know you, you can make this even better.

(Personal note: REALLY glad to have you back, and also happy to hear you're keeping busy with work!)

All I can say is I learned from the best..took a little style here and there until I and Maa formed our own style. We really try not to have a style that everyone sees.

About the page in netscape...you are right...it doesn't work right in netscape and another reason why we are testing it. The chromeless popup window was made for IE. The design was not close to finished...it was put up in first case to test the windows. So I guess we will have to start up with another project that will work both in netscape and IE.

Basis of life is copying. Now...I'm not saying it's right to copy other people's work...in fact I'd be the last person to say it, but nothing in graphics is totally 'invented'. Even Ryan would have ot have gotten that Idea for a Cat's Eye off a real cat. Everything we see today has its origins in nature somewhere.

Interesting Point: Did you know that the latin translation of the term 'Invent' means: To look within (as in thinking) for the outlet (creative that is). So to invent is to use your inner creativity.

Allgood, i never questioned your ability to make images/graffix/gfx/layouts/busniess cards/brochures... All i said was that your splash image for your main page, seemed very similir to Ryans work. Did you take one of his pictures and add to it, no. Hell, you may not have even been to his site, when you made yours. It could be pure fuckin coincidence. I dont need you to sit me down and show me that you can use photoshop. I could care less if you can or cant. Ill assume you started your company some time in the last year. (taking this from where your pages says you met Maa about a year ago). Ryans site has been around longer then that. If your wife got inspired by ryans work, and decided to do something like it. I like this site. Like it a lot. In fact, I even made a screen capture of it and saved it in my "inspiration" folder. So maybe in the future I will be guilty to what Allgood was accused of ;o) I really can't see at all why he is though. I have never copied any pages, but I am still sure that if I searched long enough I would find pages that looked like all of them, and that might even have been made before mine. (but then my pages are not even special enough for anyone to even think of accusing me of copying :P)

I think what I like the best about this page is the general feel of it, because when I study it closer I see many things that I don't care much for. Like the drop shadows and the 3D that you try to incorportate with the logo and graphic elements from it.
I don't think it is too low in contrast (in fact, that is probably why I liked it to begin with, as that is different from much of what you see on the web) or at least not to begin with. I noticed though that when I returned to it later after having seen pages with much more colour and contrast (like the asylum) it did look rather bland. I feel like it needs at least something to catch my eyes.

Because that's exactly what's happening... chromeless windows are a hack, not a standard feature. What has to be done, is you have to open a window in *full screen mode* in IE, and then resize it. That's why your screen flickers.
