Sometimes I forget that I've hit ctrl + h, then I go on like business as usual -- Doh! Sometimes I forget that I've turned Preserve Transparencies on. Sometimes I forget that I've clipped a few layers and it does funky things when I go to turn off several layers. Just click the bottom layer, none of the others. Sometimes (recently) I forget that I'm working in a seperate RGB channel. That can be a real confonder sometimes. |

Dumb things like flattening the imae? Deleting layers? Yes, why is it so tempting. And when you have 6 psd's going at the same time and you close the program and it's asking "do you wanna save Untitle4?" and you accidentally clikc 'no' and it's gone forever?... |

OK, I can share mine! When I was first writing tutorials, I wrote the first version of the Lighting Effects tutorial, and I explained this *totally* bizarre and difficult means of creating the sharp edged "button mask", using the gradient tool set to 'multiply', it worked great but required watching the info pallette very closely and being "oh so careful" with the mouse. After it was posted for a few weeks, some kid who had just gotten Photoshop asked me why I never mentioned the easy way, of simply setting my selection to "border" of 16 and filling with black? Doh! I couldn't believe it, it was too frigging easy! I left the hard way up as the first part of the tute, there were too many good learning issues in doing it that hard way! (I'll bet there are still a few people who are pissed at me for not explainign the easy way till the end! Hah!) |
