I am currently working on this one, but right now I have been having some problems with the server that is hosting my domain name so I havn't been able to update the site today. It's been up for about a week now. How am I doing so far?

I didn't know that you designed the register.com coming soon page...www.netmosis.com/temp/screen.jpg .... k after clicking you sig i've determined the following about your site:

1. you need to capitolize more on the empty space in the big sphere...
2. either use more scanlines or less, it bugs my eyes for some reason with the medium use of scanlines, maybe some on the right side of the IF...
3. pretty good job, thorough site, easy navigation, preloader a bit unecessary and the 88x31 banners might look better at the bottom of the page than the top...

by linking the forum button to the guru's forum it makes it look like it's your own forum...just a bit of outside perspective...

To suggestion #

1. I actually did capatilize on the sphere, but it ended up looking better when it was empty. What I will be doing though in order to make up for this loss is that I am going to have a new graphic come up every time when you load the page. It's going to cycle through a whole bunch of already made pictures for the grill next to the sphere. I havn't done that yet, but once when I get all of the other bugs ironed out, I will be doing that.

2. I have gotten mixed feelings about these scanlines, however, I like them, so I think that I am going to keep them. For now at least.

3. hehe Thanks, and yes, the banners would actually probably be better if they were at the bottom rather than the top, however, I am trying to emphasize certain designers that really seem to help others a lot. I am trying to get more people to go to those sites. Not that I even have that many people going to mine, hehe, but it's the thought that counts right?

Oh and your absolutly right about that forums page, but for right now, I am not going to worry about that. I will probably have my own forum up and running in a few weeks. For now I have just been linking to the Guru's Network forums page becuase it's such a great discussion group, kind of like in here.

So what do you think of the content of the site so far? Do you think that it will attract people?

Heh, I noticed a bug that I accidentally have on this page. Does anyone know how to fix this netscape bug? On the frontpage, old news page, and the links page, the links on the right hand side start off small, and then out of no where get really big. I have used multiple kinds of styles, but it just doesn't seem to cut it. Can anyone help?

VHS: here's my two tips:
1) spot the difference:

WEB DESIGNERS
SOFTWARE
answer: software has to lots of these: . get rid of one, see what happens...

2) what is missing?

a{ text-decoration: none; color: #000066; }

answer: well, why dont you put font-size and font-family in here? then, it will apply to all link text!

ok, now, onto the site: well, nice effort with the wavy button jazz! that's a nice idea... http://x-tremefx.net.cnchost.com/links/links.html
"Dr. Ozone
Doctor Theadus Ozone is one of the most influential web site designers that I have ever seen. He is truely a guru at everything dealing with graphics and design. "
truely = truly.
most of your colors are nice, some of the text and table colors really have me wondering, though.
that sphere just isnt doing it for me either, looks too much like eyeballs:

except it lacks depth. and the scanlines arent workign on it either, IMO.
your little thingy down the bottom, the "VHS design" with the mailto link, i really like it. its quite a neat little idea.
content - well, it just seems like a bunch of links.
i think ive said more than enough! nice site!

Yeah, I understand about the circle. I am going to change it probably, but before I do that, I am going to try my first idea. I am still trying to keep this site as simple as I can get it so I am going to create a couple of banners tha will swap in an out every time you load the page so that I can keep things new.

Does this sound good?

:/

Ok, well I decided not to do the thing that I was talking about, becuase it would involve just the same amount of steps. Take a look at the page now. I used a Nebula picture and blended it in with the ball. Does it look better? Oh and the page isn't all links. It has five tutorials up so far, and you can download all of the PSD's for the logo's section. I am also working on the Buttons, backgrounds, and fonts section.

I can't get past the preloader right now and I have DSL! It stalls on me.

Maybe you should make a "JUST GO" option in there somewhere to skip the preloading.

my biggest concern is that you're wasting 200px (roughly) on the right side, even on an 800x600 browser window. you've got the real-estate--you must use it.

I wish that it was true, however, the lowest resolution that I can acheive on my machine is a 640x480. I am trying to reach an extremely high level of compatability with the site rather than have the web site clutured. So that 200 pixels is actually more like 15 pixels of space. However, I understand where you are coming from with that suggestion, because I have people mention this to me.

Humm! [blushing] I used to have to say this to a reporter friend of mine, that "Doctor Theadus Ozone", is really "Thaddeus", heh. I got a funny name, don't make it any funnier, cool?

I didn't have a probelm with the link into the GN forum, actually think it's a pretty good thing for the Gurus Network, more traffic, more sharing, all good things when you take away the personal angle, whicch the GN has done, mostly!

I think I might nix the scanlines over the name itself, it makes things jaggy on the smaller letters, and might snap the problem sphere back into happyville. You might also want to look more closely at how they hit the bottom line of the sphere, not jaggy, but it gives the *illusion* of jaggy.

I also have no problem with that "wasted" 200px, I waste pixel space all the time. I'm thinking if you could figure how to let it form a nice band up the middle on those monster monitors, that would be a good thing perhaps. Maybe you could figure a way to complete the sphere for those who have the big screens? Something with frames or a dhtml layer would do it, be clever.

Good job overall, I like it!

Your pal, -doc-

Do you think that putting an advertisement as a foreground above the grill at the top will help with the scanlines? If not, then I am going to take half of them out.

Ok, well I am more than likely going to change the scanlines on the site, but now I have one last thing that I am conserned about. It's my tutorials. I am not sure if they are good enough. Can someone give me some advice on them?
http://x-tremefx.net.cnchost.com/

I think that my Fire Tutorial is pretty good for right now, I need to fix my Molten SCratches tutorial, I am adding two more tutorials, and I am not sure how well I explained how to complete the other effects.

Currently making Wires tutorial and an INset Button tutorial.

Check it out! I now have my Free Graphics section open on my web site. It not only gives you buttons and backgrounds, but it also gives you the PSD's so you can extend what I already made. Take a look and tell me what you think!
