OMG! This file is HUGE! I felt so guilty about the last sig I worked and worked on this one...

I have never worked so hard on someone else's sig in my life... Now I know why I stay away from animation.
Any suggestions on how to reduce size but retain quality? I know, I know, I know... Read this faq and that faq and don't forget that faq... *sigh*

You using imageready?

Change your view to 2-up (or 4-up), and hit window -> show optimized. You'll get all the options for optimizing for web use there.

I didn't get that one from any kind of tutorial. I just messed around for a couple of hours until I made it work. Just made one big circle that looked like a ripple after I had messed with it for a while, then copied and made it a bit smaller, copied and made that a bit smaller, etc., until I had a series of outgrowing circles. Then when I animated them, I just showed them one circle at a time, basically doing frame by frame work on that part instead of tweening.

As for the name, I used a filter or two to distort it, distorting it to a different degree in each frame, then faded back to the original.

So to answer your question, hellfireclanx, I didn't really do anything that I could map out for you; I don't even know precisely what I did. If I did it again, the steps would be slightly different. If you're interested in doing something similar to that, my recommendation is to ask yourself "what's the easiest way to do this?" That's pretty much how I do everything in Photoshop.

By the way, for really good animation advice, you should check the FAQ for stuff that Mahjqa has done. He is truly the god of this stuff, and has provided examples of how he did what he did, some of which you can find in the FAQ.

I still can't figure out that dolphin one he did.
