Well LG already started the ball rolling with that kind of phone, look up the LG Prada phone. to be honest the Blackberry is a far superior phone, and the severe restrictions that the iPhone will have in place will stunt its useability in my opinion.

lot's of wow factor though!

The mere thought of spending $500 on a phone makes me die a little bit.

The Apple fanboys will buy them. This isn't an iPod; the iPod revolutionized a barren market. This is an iPhone; the market is already quite robust, and the old warhorses of phones, Nokia and Motorola, and Sony Erikson, etc, should not feel threatened.

Why have an iPod for music, phone for communication, and Blackberry for email when you could have just one iPhone? Because you've already spent the money on those three things. Spending another $500 will just make you feel stupid. And I hope the market knows that.

I'll pass on that. It sure looks shiny, but it can for the price. There's no way I'll pay $500 for a phone.
Also, I already have a fully usable browser plus a light weight one that gives me the informations I want at godsped. As for widgets ... well it's coming and my personal use case for them on mobile is fairly limited anyway.

I'd hate having to look at the phone to use it. Now my current phone I don't actually look at _too_ often because it has pretty decent voice recognition.

$500 for a phone? Wow, is that all?

This is going to sound like the discussion we had a while back about building PCs. Over here in Australia, I've seen consumer mobile phones that cost a lot more than that.

That's insane...
I *can* see that some people would need the functionality of a high-end phone enough to justify the expense...but damn. $500 for a phone is just....insane.

The first cell phone I had cost something like 4 thousand dollars which was approximately one quarter the cost of the car in which it was installed. I still have the cell phone battery AND the car.

Oh and don't forget that the price tags ( $499 for the 4Gb version, $599 for the 8Gb version ) are when you agree to a 24months contract with Cingular. Sold alone it will probably be around $7-800.
