I am with Viol on this.
Can someone post an independed assesment of what has happened?

We have very little concrete information to form an opinion besides a lot of emotive language
unsubstantiated with evidence from one party.
What is the URL of the site in question?
If your are receiving legal advice, sue your lawyer, he should not have allowed your PCs to be confiscated.

Besides, without knowing anything more about the site, and with all due respect
what the heck were you thinking creating a large site for a commercial enterprise (or at least for someone
with enough $ to hire lawyers) and not ask for any payment?
There is a reason we have contract law, and circumstances like this is precisely why.

It's just a waiting game at this point. We have to see what happens next before we can anything else.

And it's not about not getting paid. It's about refusing to just 'give' things away without payment. It's a civil matter (at best) and nothing else.

We're very gratefull for the kind comments and concerns. We're trying to stay positive. God Bless You All!

As soon as we need to solicit funds, we'll give out the information. The PayPal account has been created. Right now, it's a waiting game, and we're forumlating a strategy. We'd appreciate any comments or ideas, and we'll promptly post information here as soon as the attorney gives the word.

Again, we're very happy to see the support from the folks both here and at Gurus Network. It will not be forgotten!

God Bless You All!

By the way: I've made my email address available. Please feel free to send words of support for my Pugzly to me, and I'll happily forward them.

Pugz .. I know it's been awhile .. but Emps just informed me of this situation .. it's tragic to think of the situation you have been put into .. it sounds to me that you are at their mercy .. I would only suggest you be sure to have a lawyer outside of your city limits if anything outside your county limits that is reviewing and supporting your case .. then again it sounds me as though your dealing with the local authorities .. I pray you had copies of everything before they seized your computers

I'll be sure to keep updated on this and give my insite when and where possible .. support is your strongest ally .. and you SURELY have mine!

For those interested in contributing to the defense fund, you can PayPal to claudiamac@yahoo.com. We'll keep track of everything donated, and will return any unused amount.

We thank you for your words of support, as well as any contributions. More info will come out as we get it in the next couple of days.

I promise to release information as soon as I can. Can't tip the hat right now, and until I know the full extent of the charges, can't finalize the strategy. I hope everyone can understand.

In the mean time, my precious wife is handling fund-raising & public awareness. Please contact her with questions/contributions/ideas.

Thanks for all of the kind words and support so far. We will prevail through this injustice!

Butcher reminds me that not everyone might know what's involved when donating via PayPal....

For the person who's never used it, here's the .5 description
1. Go to http://www.paypal.com/ and setup a new account.
2. Tie your account to one or more methods of funding (credit card, bank account, etc).
3. Choose the option to SEND MONEY, and insert the email address of the recipients PayPal account along with the amount you'd like to send.
4. Follow the prompt to send the money.

You get a detailed list of account activity, and the recipient gets a notification of the funds.

Why use PayPal?
1. It's secure
2. It's convenient
3. It's free (to send money - you pay a percentage to receive money)

I've used PayPal for several years for a lot of online transactions (mainly ebay stuff). I've also got clients who pay for hosting via PayPal, and it works really well.

For those who'd like to send checks/money orders, please contact my wife offline for information.

Again, the wife is keeping very detailed records of the donations. All unused amounts donated for the CRIMINAL trial will be returned (I think we'll take the unused amount, divide it into equal portions for each donator, and refund like that). We expect it to cost up to $10,000 for legal defense in this issue.

OK we are seeking testimonials to Pugzly's character to things out after the rather negative image potrayed so far in the media.

If you could keep it to a sentence or two and then send it to mobrul (or Q me with them and I'll pass them on). Include the name you' like to be known as (your online nickname is fine) and you are passing them on with the understanding that they may be circulated at some point (probably not them all but a representative sample).

Thanks in advance but don't feel like you have to.

Good bump but unneccesary

OK things we are now going full ahead with things and turning things up a notch:

The Justice 4 Pat Richard Campaign

Presented by People for the Ethical Treatment of Web Designers

Due to a bit of leaking things have had to be brought forward a bit so bear with us while we put the final polish on things (so no 'hey this is missing' as we probably already know and we are working on it ) but I didn't want everyone finding the link from another site.

The next phase is publicity - Skaarjj and PetSkull have volunteered to act as our 'street team' and they will be drawing up a list of good places to drop this link in. Some from the site team will contact the big names (Register, NTK, Zeldman, etc.) but we will be looking for members of web design forums to offer to post their (to avoid accusations of spamming) and then the 'street team' will pass the links around further. I suspect if we can hit the important blogs and news servcies that the news will spread rapidly and word of mouth will do the rest but it doesn't hurt to get a bit of planning done.

Is putting a link in your sig at different sites a bad idea?
Just to get the link on the net?

If needed i will explain this to people in dutch oriented countries, this might be a good idea for others who speak a non-english native language. Spread the word.

Good ideas - feel free to link in form your own site (I am) and as long as you aren't ramming it down people's throats then I can't see the harm in adding a link to the site from your sib (like you have above really).

And it would be handy if we had people availabel to cover things in different languages. We'll need to speak to mobrul but perhaps it might be handy to have some translations of the press release.

I'm not entirely sure if its been brought up yet, but has anyone contacted the local government yet? Macomb County has a different set up then my county government but it would be well worth drafting a form letter to the 26 commissioners.

I'd be very willing to draft a form letter and mailing it out to each office although I want to get approval from either Emp or Mrs. Pugzly. Of course I'd post my letter here for everyone to see before mailing it.

There are enough connections here that we could have this site translated into any number of different languages and get it out to the whole world.

Also, are we planning on having any kind of co-ordinated google bombing of this site to get it's pagerank up there so it shows up high in the results?
