I believe, the only way to do it without involving the Mad Scis, is to simply re-register under a new name...

And there's your answer, Karl. There's really only one person who can go and do it, and we haven't heard from him in a while. Add to that the fact that it's simply just alot of work to do it, means we'd prefer that if someone wants to change their username, they simply re-register

Another great and smart idea is to use a new name with a hint of the old one, for instance, you re-register as Wuthering_Heights_afka_Karl, for instance, so we know that you were Karl, and after some months, you can re-re-register as Wuthering_Heights_no_need_for_afka_anymore, and finally, some more months past, you get finally to the Wuthering_Heights nickname, by re-re-re-registering. You can add some more intermediate steps if you think you need more for the transition.
Isn't it a wonderful idea?

I think that the MadSci's could assemble a Grand Ozone Jury for deciding on nicknames when there is a dispute. So, if you are known as "badass" amongst your clan, and some other guy comes first and takes this nick, than you file a formal complaint to the Grand Ozone Jury, bringing proofs that you're nick was cyberjacked, and the Grand Ozone Jury will decide.

Note: Please note that I didn't say it was easier to change a username in the grail. Nor did I say it's more difficult. But it set's bad precedent, and the guys where the importer can not make the link from their username to their cell, because, their username doesn't exist in the database anymore, quite frankly annoy me.

Reregister, if you want a new name. Write that in the contact details of your old account, if you want. But changing names of existing accounts is a can of worms which I don't want to open up.

Deus = God in Portuguese.

It's used in Brazil to refer to God as God is used here, in the USA, to refer to, well, God, whatever God be.

And if you want to know what 'viol' means in French, look no further than here: http://21st-century-home.co.uk/dvd/dvd.pl/item-B00005OCV4/shop.htm

On the other hand, in English, it's a musical instrument, that the Italians call "Viola da Gamba".
You can find "Viol" as a family name mostly in Germany but also in Italy and I guess in Austria also. In Brazil it's very rare (I guess that it's also rare in those countries). There is also at least one guy, named "André Viol", exactly like me (well, I actually have one more middle name and one more family name), in France and in Germany.

In Brazil, we have iG, a now famous Internet portal, that gives free email service. I was lucky to sign up in the very beginning and I got the address av @ ig.com.br, that I like a lot.

Later, some of the features in the portal, that required an email, from the iG portal itself, to be accessed, started to refuse my email, saying that it was invalid, too short !! I had to send more than once email to the support telling them "hey, I've got an email from you with just two letters, and it's real, it's mine, you gave me !!"

Then, after a while, they fixed the problem.
The dark side is that because it has only two letters, spammers find it too easily and today I'm being targeted by spammers, in that address, with more than 20-30 spam messages a day. Sooner, I'll have to give it up.
