I was just thinking about a funny thing that happened to us one night....

We were driving down the interstate heading towards a bar we like to hang out in. One of my friends had a cousin in town from Sri Lanka (small island off the coast of India) who had never been to America before.

We're scootin along, bottle of Jack in the backseat being slowly drained when I see police lights in the back window so we pull over. The guys in the back are trying to hide this huge bottle somewhere and the driver says "Oh shit, thats a highway patroman, they can shoot you for doing this."

Poor Neminda, being a little inebriated and unfamiliar with America, believes him. The hi-po comes to the window and asks the usual questions. The whole time Neminda is sitting in the back seat saying "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Later he told us he was so scared he nearly soiled himself.

We told the cop what we had done and he was laughing so hard he let us go.

I don't know what the LAPD or NYPD can or will do down there (short of marking their respective territories ) but I do know what they're attempting to pass a law that automobile drivers should be able to turn right on a red light. Personnaly I think it would be a catastrophe, because Montreal drivers are NOT renowned for being the most carefull drivers!!!

We turn left on red here....
