When someone has that attitude of just fucking with other people to piss them off, it's pretty evil if you let them get to you. Take solace in the fact that someone who would do that must have had a really rough life if that is what they do for 'fun'. It might be infuriating that they have no shame, but remember that everyone hates them and their life will probably be a pathetic failure.

What i think;;
I don't believe he came here to cause commotion. He stole something hoping no one would notice. When he was caught he claimed that he had done it to cause commotion, as a scape goat. If you notice on his tag board he has a person named ''girl - something'' which more or less says "who's next" about a minute later he responds. Both were him i'm assuming. Another thing is, that smoke though he stole it, fit pretty well with his site. Also, would he really spend the effort, to post as much as he did, or even make a sig. A plan gone wrong i suppose. Either way for him to have such success on other people's work is horrible.

I do not think that he stole it and hoped no one would notice... how could he be that stupid? I think he stole and it he just didn't care if anyone noticed, because that's what he does on a regular basis. As to his "success," what success does he really have? So he won a web award, big deal. Some clueless people think he's cool. But he lost the respect of a whole lot of people. If that's success, I'll pass on it.

Along the lines of what jiblet said, the guy is a loser. He may think he's cool, a bunch of other people may think he's cool, but at the end of the day when he looks at himself in the mirror he is looking at a loser. I just hope he doesn't go through the rest of his life this way.

Well eyezaer, you got a point. Being upset does motivate a person to do something about it. I guess just for me personally I don't like getting upset because I think it's bad for my health. The way i see it, there's things in this world a lot more worth getting upset about (eg. US foreign policy) than a petty thief. If I was omnipotent, the only thing I would do is make sure that no one ever got fooled by this guy into paying him money.

To get in to the deeper philosophy of it. Two wrongs don't make a right. Attacking this guy, cracking his site, or whatever doesn't really improve the situation. In my mind, our daily creative work adds much more to human culture than berating someone else for being a loser and an asshole. Yes, it bothers me that some believe he is an artist, and so I don't oppose dissemination of the truth. The thing I've noticed about myself is that the best feelings in life come from creative acts, whether it be completing an important job with my co-workers or just giving someone a compliment. Revenge on the other hand is at best bittersweet.

Not to say that is true for everyone, it's purely a personal ideology.

Wel,, *I* know his name and address and telephone, but if anyone really needs it, well, I'll leave that as an excercise to the student, heh. ;-) I'm inclined to simply blow him off, it's simply not much worth the bother. I think we should perhaps take a "google bomb" approach to these borderline cases, where they do rip, but somehow enter the grey area where they have the "not 100% my work"? label. Let's say that whenever we discuss any graphic rippers in the future, we link to them with their url, but use a label like "stolen graphics" in the link. (I'm sure someone with a better imagination than I will come up with a better term. Should be generic, though.) Could be an interesting experiment.

Well Doc, that's what I thought at first...but as I started working my way through his links section, I strated running into more and more 'ripped' stuff...I think he's ripped just about everything on the site...just not from one source.

As to whether or not he is 'small-time'...well, I consider myself small-time...and his 'site' is a bit more than that...I'd rate him at 'middle'...if he had done the site himself (which appears not to be the case...).

He's managed to get linked by quite a bit of 'good' sites out there. And not a few award-sites as well.

And that's just not right.

BTW - benev, he has linked to your site. I find that rather strange, considering (and don't take this wrong, please...) that there really isn't all that much at your site...do you know him? Maybe from another Forum? If so, which Forum? And under which 'name'?

So, just got finished contacting (and looking) through all the sites that link him (that I know of). We'll see what happens...

Hey all. I'm not from the graphic side of things (as you can tell from my site), but I know what ripping is. DeltaV appeared a few months back and proceeded to 'jack' my shoutbox, adding it to his site. I couldn't figure out where the extra posts were coming from, but after people started refering to his site, I was a little suprised to say the least. I was a bit pissed to begin with, but decided I had bandwidth to share, so I gave him his own shoutbox, which is the one you see. It's hosted on my site, but it's his to use.

I don't want to tick anyone off here, since the graphic crews are pretty numerous , so I'll ask what you think I should do. I don't want to support him if he's going to be arrogant about the whole thing, but I've also offered to help him out. Can someone check this out and see if it was swiped from somewhere?



He offered to make me a link and returned with it kinda fast. I'm curious if it was ripped as well.

Since it is not my intent to cause you harm, I would suggest that you find a way to cut him off from using your shoutbox...or at least inform him that you do not want him using it...

As far as I'm concerned, I'll leave it up for you to post in. He asked me to look at a way to block posts from a certain IP address and I didn't know why. Now I do. If you want to annoy the piss out of him, feel free to use my resources If I pull his shoutbox, he'll prolly resort to stealing mine again In the mean time, I'll look at a way to stop him from doing so, after your work is done

Well, if there is one thing that I've learned through all this, it's that there are people who care, and people who don't care. And then there's WebShaman, who is very scary. You don't want to get on his bad side.

I've also noticed something of a trend: most of the people who don't care can't spell. I could speculate on the reasons for this, but I won't.

I'm curious, though... is ripping graphics a valid reason for his hosting account to be revoked? I'm not really sure how those things work.

To once again foster debate I'll take the opposing view. Look at this statement on the home page of the Metropolitan Museum of Art : "Admired and copied from the moment it appeared, Marcantonio's engraving records a drawing by Raphael that was inspired by ancient Roman relief sculpture."

Broken down this states that the art was copied by others, and is itself made from a drawing by another artist which in turn was inspired by a style of art. If we must quibble over what is defined as stolen or not, there are about a thousand "futuristic" style sites and a thousand more with that crystal thing in the background. Are we then to attack and pillage all those sites and anyone else who has something that looks like someone elses. I made a site once with leaves. Should nature then boycott me?

I think that there are few things that need to come out here.

Blacksoulsunday came here and started really pushing his weight around. He was new and was really bashing a few of the memebers that have been around for a while. No need for that kind of thing.

Then he requested a review for his site. He caused a little bit of a rift when people came to him about some things that they didn't like. Then Eyeazer saw that BSS cut out a graphic from one of his sigs. The bad thing, not only did he steal the graphic but he didn't even change the background that Izzay had made.

It is the simple fact that we like to look out for each other. There are a lot of talent that goes on here. These grapics and such take a lot of time for the most part and when someone takes them and claims them as their own, it upsets US for them.

This is a "family oriented" community. And this bit about ripping has been going on for a long time around here and it is time that it is reduced to a minimum. I doubt that it would ever be stopped.

C:\ - I understand and am only trying to make the same point that InI is making in that my first introduction to this place is, excuse the pun, raving madness about retribution and anger and somehow I get the feeling that this is not what this should be about. So I try to make points that will lessen the pressure level and bring some of the fun that I know these places can be. To be honest, I have not really even looked around the rest of the site as I keep waiting to see what obnoxious thing WS is going to say next. It's one thing to express displeasure but to actively threaten someone's accounts at a server is another. I do agree that both sides could have taken steps to ensure a mature discorse but from following the thread to this point, I have only now begun to hear voices that weren't sounding like a mob ready to rush off and burn down Dr. Frankenstein's castle.

I look for places on the web that I too can be a part of a family. But I don't want to if I have to watch my scalp everytime I make something new or say something that is disagreeable. If well-established members of this family can make statementes that bash people, why can't a newcomer. Are visitors required to instantly adopt all beliefs held by the members and in no way express any personality traits unless otherwise sanctioned by the ruleing class? Is this thread the equivalent of the gestapo?

To Ini...when I said go away to Val, I didn't mean leave the asylum, but that he should just leave me alone...I have enough to do with this stuff going on...if that was falshly interpreted, then I apologize.

Now, to another point...I have found one of BSSs ripping grounds...and that is deviant art. I've found one background that he ripped, still looking for the other piece. When I finally find that, I'm going direct to his provider. I feel he's been warned enough. You have to consider that he could end all this quite simply by removing all ripped stuff. That would be enough and was all that I wanted in the first place.
But he won't. And he only does remove stuff when he's caught with his pants down. And then, only under pressure. And he doesn't seem to show any regret for what he has done...and has yet to apologize for what he did. Therefore, I'm sure he'll continue. And that is wrong. I don't wish to 'educate' him on being a smarter 'ripper' here. And I don't think he really wants to learn how to do his own stuff. So, it goes on...

I know what you mean. I wasn't coming down on you or anything, I just wanted to fill you in.

No, I don't think that ANYONE should really have the right to bash. Some here "critique" in a very. . . strident manner for lack of better terms. I don't like bashing but "constructive critisim" is always welcome.

This place has always been quite a mad, ranting and raving place. There has been a lot of tension since I came her too. You should have been here when Dark was getting onto Shi about the alleged "deletion of posts" that was kind of funny really.

This is really a great place and I have learned A LOT from the talent around here.

Didn't mean anything by what I said, I just didn't agree how BSS handled himself when he first came here. Then again I think this whole thing has gotten a little out of control
but that's just my view.

Mail the Doc so he knows which one of you is the real one and if the 'other' Val is more than a one-off and causes problems for you then I'm sure it'll be dealt with (does that even make sense?).

I thought Wakkos/Jeni was the only one allowed to have multiple personalities - this is what comes from people stealing pills of newcomers.

OK, well I haven't had much to say about this, but really, blacksoulsunday, do you really think you get awards because a few extra people come to your website? Especially when they all seem to truly dislike you so? Sad, so sad.

If traffic to your webserver is all that matters to you, then one possible recourse is to set up an automated script that visits your own site over and over again, you can inflate your statistics to unbelievable numbers that way! Please drop me an email if you'd like help writing such a script, it really wouldn't be that hard. Please remember that most web hosts place upper limits on your bandwidth, and after that point you usually have to pay for it.

As for a possible "google bomb", I doubt anyone would create it so you get hits from the search term "blacksoulsunday", chances are it would be something much less flattering, which would not bring the quality of traffic you seem to hope for.

Hey, could someone start a new thread for this? I'm getting a good deal of amusement from it but it's getting really long. Bet I'm not alone.

Gee, I was going to say something along the lines of "Maybe we should move on now," but then I read BSS's latest post. The boy truly amazes me. If he was the least bit repentant I think moving on would be in order, but he shows absolutely no remorse whatsoever, and even seems to be delighting in this. I kind of doubt that he is ever really going to change his ways, especially after what I've seen. Not that I think we should let him off the hook--that would be no fun.

(Hmmm... I said "we"--I wonder where that came from? I'm just watching everything from the sidelines...)
