I think RTFM would be a very useful phrase right here.

I don't know what you mean, but I feel quite shitty right now.

Yeah mahjqa, but how is someone supposed to read the fucking manual for a program they don't fucking have yet?????????????

It's a very fair question.....do any of you using 6.0 have anything to say about it? Do you like it better than earlier versions or not? (Do you feel better about *using* it mahjqa?......)

I still use 5.0, and I'm not depressed Taxon...it works just fine

I use 6.0. I moved to it from 5.0, never had 5.5. I like it. It takes some getting used to.

I have it too, and on the whole I like it a lot. I'm not entirely comfortable with the color management changes, and so haven't worked it into our day-to-day at the studio, but that's simply a matter of finding the time to do the research. A summer project maybe. But I feel good about the interface changes, I love the layer groups, I like the shaded crop tool -- I like it. Most of the "changes" strike me as evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but so far all of the changes I have encountered are positive. A little disorienting? Sure. So what else is new. They made it better, mostly in small ways.

Hi, and welcome to the asylum...It's been around for awhile and there are lots of people here. You should really get into the archives when you have a chance. A lot has been covered. I'm < PS5.5 too.
Although I MIGHT get my deep-pocket, skin-flint employer to shell out for it -

THAT brings up an interesting question, howver ...
I work for an insurance company, and they actually think that
programmers should buy their OWN SOFTWARE!!!

What's the world coming to?

he he This thread got just a wee bit off topic didn't it?

I have PS 6 and I really like it.. PS 6 uses "Layer Styles" instead of "Layer Effects." Styles comes up in larger window with all the styles grouped on the left and the options on the right. You can save your styles for repeated use which is nice, you don't have to set up an action. They do however, take a while to load up. I was using a comp with 256 MB of Ram and it would take about a second to load the interface. I haven't played with styles since I got my new computer though.

Color dodge and burn blending modes are way different now, that takes a bit to get used to, especially if you're doing something you've gotten used to doing in 5.5. Another small thing I was annoyed with at first was that when you double click a layer in the palette it brings up the layer styles window instead of the options where you can rename. I like to rename my layers to keep track of them so thats a bit of an annoyance at first.

The paths tool is much better now it seems to me (or I'm just better at using it.) There is also the Liquify command which is kind of like Kai's Power Goo, but I haven't found a good use for it yet. That seems to be more of something they added to attract more beginning users.

The toolbar is arranged a little differently, no biggie there. There is also a horizontal docked bar at the top where the options for each tool show up instead of in a seperate window. That goes for the text tool too, no more seperate interface which is kind of nice.

Thats about all I can think of right now without PS right here in front of me. I really like 6.0 though, I would recommend the upgrade and then make sure you download the 6.01 upgrade from Adobe.

Have fun and happy PSing!

I like that little thing in the 6.0.1 update that lets you right click to change brushes, and the pattette docking. Also the options bar is pretty cool.
C`mon , VP. Upgrading isn`t such a bad thing. * draws parallel to wagon wheels and steel belted radials * ( and crash protection )
