In honor of my dem--err--promotion to Mad Scientist I thought I'd throw together a nice little siggy for it.
I think this one lookes suitably Satanic and mad scientisty

hehe, that design behind was created like so:

took my text, made it a channel and didn't deselect it. blurred by 4, then deselected and blurred by 2 then ran Plastic Wrap with the max settings twice. I could really have a lot of fun with that filter.

I don't think this is much bigger than DG's MadSci sig, though.

I just checked. This is only 5 pixels taller than DG's, it's about 200 wider though.

I can use a big sig if I want. Just like you can use a box sig if you want...at least I didn't have one like boomzilla8, that one was like 400 pixels tall, it was insane.

Uh..DG's sig is not too big....and yet it is. It's merely a marker of our presence, and we don't feel that any other size would suit us as well.

(actually I'm woking on a new one when I get a chance, as this one is huge in comparison to what I want. It was to be a joke back in the newly appointed Scientist days, but it ran long during my hiatus)

So Sloloem...nice job, a sig we can all appreciate....now make it smaller. If mine's too big, I think 5 pixels taller, and 200 pixels wider might be a bit huge.

I don't mind if your sig is 400px tall. hehe. It's bytesize that matters yah? Slo's big-sig - 16k. Pretty acceptable really.

about DG sig size, its big, but his text is sometimes 3 times his sig hieght. Lotsa talking he does.

Sloloem; Your sig offends me. It looks like the jello of Satan himself, it's not nearly as pleasing as the jello we have here on the mortal plane. It looks remarkably like someone sat down with as many filters as he/she could possibly cram into his/her machine and made the most god-awful, wretched eyesore imaginable, then pasted it up on a peice of Tupperware on a pole in the hopes that someone, just someone, would like it.

Moreover, if I had any fucking clue what the hell kind of result you were going for (rather than "I was fucking around in Photoshop and came out with this load of gizzards and toes!"), I might be able to offer some sort of critique based on skill involved.

Filters filters filters. That's what makes the artist. Screw actual artistic talent and an eye for color. Lets just run our filters until our finger hurts from hitting CTRL+F so much.

*sigh* I'm finished.

I have to start off by saying...I nearly just peed my pants.

I'd like to make addenda to that by saying "What...running KPT, EyeCandy, and then plastic wrap over and over until my comp crashes isn't art or skill?"

I mentioned above that it was a visual improvement over some of his past work...I stand by that, though I'm not sure it's the depth of commentary that people might be taking it as.

I'm not sure that continuously running plastic wrap on any and all layers gives credence to any skill....but at least it shows he opened the filter dialog?

Hell I don't know....I can say this much though.

I've been holding off saying anything about this new sig... but I guess it would help. I think, Slo, that if you remove all the white noodles from around your text, it would be a vast improvement. I like where the noodles and the text combine, but outside the text they look... well, too bright and out of place. Like you colored outside the lines with a box of crayons, ya know? The design that comes from the noodles might be interesting if it didn't look so sloppy.

So, in conclusion. Just use the text I say. Ditch the noddles, or clean 'em up a little. Er, a lot. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

I gotta agree with twtch to some extent (and for the record, I'm not -- and have never been -- pussfooting around any issue <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif"> ). It just looks like a random play with filters that resulted in some unexpected product that you took and posted. Take it as a start...a method to perfect...DO something with it rather than taking the random result and calling your sig. ya Dig?

Now if everyone's done whining that it looks like some over filtered piece of crap allow me to use in my defense that I only used 2 filters...plastic wrap and lighting effects.
The rest of it was playing with layers and blend modes.
I don't even have eyecandy or KPT! And I don't have any extra filters.

I really wanted to make it look as evil and demented as I could, and I feel I accomplished that. If you don't like it then piss off.

And seeing as I'm sick of being slapped around like a hockey puck about my sigs I'm retiring my Mad Scientist sig and making a new one.
