Preserved Topic: Waxy stampy thing? (Page 1 of 1)

Righty,
I got bored, and low and behold, I watched "The legend of Sleepy Hollow". What does this have to do with the sig? Well, in the opening scene someone seals shut an envelope with wax and a stamp/seal. I thought it was doable. Here is a sample open for comments of all types.

well to be honest Rat... it aint working for me.... first off.. last time I made a wax seal it was actually very crisp.. well at least around the letters or symbol... maybe the edges bled like yours do.... but the colour was also red, as opposed to the gray you have.... sorry to be such a downer!

yeah, i would kinda have to second vp - great idea, but i think you need to study your subject a little more...
it would be a lot easier for someone to identify what your were trying to achieve. i think your edges needmore definition too.

well, I kinda like the stamp-part of it, but I have to agree a bit with VP and Bunchapixels.

It would be intresting to see the exact same pic, but in red.
The gray/white makes me associate to soap or candles...

Add a few bubbles and some liquid, and you may have a killer soap!
(didn't boudga use a soap a while back?)

i dunno if boudga did, but i have this mental image of a piece of soap with 'taxon' on it...

silence -- it would actually be accurate to have the text popping out of the wax. Just needs a lot more clarification, color, and shine good idea though

yeah, krets...the inner part shouldn't be shiny like that...the outer ring is usually pretty shiny though.

Yeah, that's actually what I was talking buncha.

The original looked like it had three levels of depth. One level for the outline, a second for the "bed" the text lies on, and a third for the text itself. I hope I'm making sense.

Anyway, like the one buncha showed, most wax stamps have only two levels of depth, mostly because it's easier to make them like that.

So, I was suggesting that either the text be pressed into the wax, or an outline around the text be pressed in while the text comes out.

Also, you could get a nice woodcut effect with the same technique rat.

Other than that, I like the look.
