Arr.. you should use a GIF with a transparent background rather than a JPG. It's also rather big! Shrink it down a bit. I'm also finding it quite hard to read your name in your sig (like I can really talk heh) I just think you could quite easialy make it more clear it all..

Oh, and Welcome to the Asylum, pull up a tile and get straped into you jacket, it get's a little bumpy in here

That's pretty big... Interesting stuff happening, though. Kind of a sense of motion. Maybe too much motion...

It is rather hard to read your name in it - the letters are all blurrified. The red, lumpy stuff in the middle doesn't seem to mesh, stylistically, with the rest of the image; there's a lot of contrast there that isn't anywhere else.

Overall, I dunno. It's really large! I'd suggest shrinkage, but I'm afraid that would turn it into an unidentifiable mass of pixels, you know? I think you should use this as a starting point, kind of. Work from what you've done here, but on a smaller scale and a more sig-friendly aspect.

WebShamen - You need to hold up right there... you just crossed a few lines that frankly.... won't 'fly' around here.

For the simple fact that Jeni posts something that either annoys you... or possibly byteman... really bears no reason to 'talk shit' about Jeni's sig. Her sig is not the issue... she did not post it here for your evaluation... nor did she ask for it.
There's no need to start a useless flamewar here... don't provoke it with child-like posts such as the one above.

When I read Jeni's post... I picked up on the sarcasm... I can't say I even broke smile... but that's besides the point... I knew where she was going with it...... .. it wasn't all that hard to draw that conclusion... and it wasn't all that harsh of a conclusion.

Needless to say, there is no sarcasm in your post. And the rather aggressive nature of your post is what triggered my response here. No, I'm not a moderater... no, I don't particularly care if you dis-like me for pointing this little problem out and 'calling you' on it.

Please... I'd say "have some respect"... but I realize we don't all have the same views about our 'behavior' on the web..... therefore.... I will say this....

There's a chance I could hit totally off mark with this post... for all I know, you could know Jeni, and perhaps you are continuing on with some inside joke. I hope that is the case. Like I said... I'm not here to be moderating how you post on this forum... but I feel it's the posts that involve the tone and direction of your last, that separate us from a lot of other boards ~ just my opinion. I'm not holding any ill will about this... as a matter of fact I'll probably forget about this in a couple of days. Maybe you're having a bad day... and it just carried over here.


byteman - Indeed... Welcome to the Asylum. As said already... the sig is pretty large... needs to be sized-down. It's hard to read the text as well. I'm not exactly sure where this mystery light source is coming from either... so it's tough to comment on any sort of lighting technique.

Yeah byte, you definitely got the "BIG" part down pat.

I don't really even see what got Shaman's panties in a bunch over Jeni's comments anyways. I mean, come on, someone was bound to use the "It bytes" line with a username like that. I would have done it if I were paying attention.

Then she just asked what it was. I'd like to know that meself. Its interesting looking. I just can't fathom a guess as to what is going on there.

Maybe cut a 75px high slice through the middle of it? Then shrink that down a bit more even... Dunno what to tell you on making it more feasible as a sig. Its just too big right now.

And Shaman, tomorrow morning try waking up on the other side of the bed.

Tax & Krets thanks. You got where I was going. I perhaps should think my posts through a little more before posting. I forget that there are newer people around that don't always get the gist. Perhaps what I meant to say is...Byteman that's an interesting symbol. Does it mean anything specific to you? And it's kinda hard for me to see all that detail you put in because of all the white lensflare stuff. Perhaps that's my mac Gamma.

Now for you WebShaman-I feel I should respond in a mature, adult manner. However, today I defer.

I particularly like the uniqueness of your teal glowing circuitboard background. Maybe next time try scan lines, they aren't used nearly enough. The type also carrying that teal hue pops off very well. I think there were probably a few more filters you could have used on it though. I don't think you're quite working to your potential on that. Also might want to add a drop shadow to appease twItch^.

byteman: It's a cool image, but it's not real great as a sig. As has been said, make the size a little smaller and that would be cool. But again, as has been pointed out, that would kinda kill the image.

My advice would be to start from scratch and do another sig because it looks like you have the tools, just gotta use 'em.

Sorry guys. My deepest apaologies. Wasn't being serious, and if I stepped over the line, then I deserve to get smacked. I think Jenni's sig is good. I humbly submit my head. Won't happen again. Sure didn't mean to offend anyone. Guess I kinda overdid it.

Don't get so beat up about it, Web. It looks like you just handled it with a good deal of tact so alls well.

The only reason these guys got on your case was the fact that you hit a bystander. heh. When Jeni posts a new sig then I'm sure you can feel free to rip it apart to your hearts content

Basically, the way I see it, you put up a sig and then go stand in front of the metaphorical brick wall with a blindfold and an optional cigarette and you wait for everybody to start shooting. Then you pick up the pieces and make something better with what's left.

byte, that, my friend, is not a sig. that is a picture with your name on it. looks like you got your own style going.... keep at it.... I dont understand it.... If you start with a clear idea of what you wanna acomplish I think it would help out quite a bit.

Doh!... the big "L" phrase...

Well, surprise, surprise, I know the byteman. Been helpin' him lately with PS techniques, but you all know how it is. Can only teach so much, then gotta let'em 'get their feet wet'. Thought that maybe here was a good place to start. Must say that sigs is something *new* to me, as well. Been doing graphic design for awhile, but sigs? Would be nice if there were a couple of 'guidelines' or tuts the the subject. But then, you guys probably wouldn't have so much fun ripping them apart, then. Its good to see that some of you out there give good, constructive feedback, tho'. Think it will help byteman lots. (not to mention meselfs). Thanks.

It does kinda look remenicent of an angel of sorts, which I like, but the lense flare right in the middle really spoils things, and that bubbly embossed cross shape might look better with less depth on the emboss, and that goes for the text too, as its barely legble atm. Try using lighting effects and channels instead, I know theres a tut around here somewhere, * starts rummaging violently throught stacks and stacks of endless scribble* , guys? a little help?
