Actually Mahjqa I left it big so you could do that! Well what I did was I found the little tab called optimize, and so when I saved it as a gif the first time I left no optimiztion settings. Then when I re-opened it I cut out the backround with the magic wand tool set to 0 tolerance and then ctrl + X to cut it out. Then I went back to that little optimization tab and clicked 128 colors, no dither, adaptive, transparency (mattle=2B0404), then I went to file and hit Save Optimized As. I clicked output settings and went to backround and seletected the mattle color once again then saved exited and reopned and it was transparent!

edit: which frames did you take out?

Frames 2,4,6,8,10..... (do we see a pattern here? )

Hmmm... Ok so each frame I was to move it up 4 spaces? Not 2?

Yup.

(just to make sure; you don't have to recreate the whole animation, just delete the frames with an even number and you're done.)

Originality lies in relegating what you already know... dont ask for too much advice, insider - just go and do it while saying to yourself "i know nothing, this could be better" every 3 or so hours. Results should turn out to be outstanding, not a remake of a tutorial. Use tutorials as impulse, not as source.

Arth, I made that as a sig... And then asked mahjqa for transparency help, I did it all on my own with my own style.

Ok ok, I have wanted to try my hand at a little pyrotechnics ever since I saw Mahjqa do his first flame. I haven't gotten around to doing it for this long. Well today I sat down and, like a Nike shoe, just did it. I don't think it is too bad for my first try. There is still stuff I don't understand on it but I'll keep working at it. But for now at least I have the basic idea.



(I didn't try any transparency stuff yet. I didn't want my ass kicked that bad today.)

mayhapps yas couldz make em smallah? by the way, did you know that it goes REALLY REALLY fast in NN? It looks like all the frames are set at 0 seconds. (It gos slo in IE)

izzy, i've noticed this before. why do certain versions of navigator display gif's differently than explorer

Well actually the frames were set to no delay, its moving slower in IE5 then in the origanal gif but not by much.

I finally had to give it a go, too.

I still have a few mask issures to work out, but it`s fun to play with. Thanks, Mahjqa.

Mahjqa...You have to make a tutorial on this. This is great...I love it but I am having a hard time understanding how you get the clouds layer not to jump or look out of place...I had given up one day and I forogt to save.....DOH!!

I too would like a t00t on this. I understand the cloud part fine, but the option 1 and option 2 part of the .psd is a bit hard for me. Like I don't understand what the gradients are doing or how to make them.

Well the gradient map isn't that hard, running on ps6 its pretty easy. Just when you are finished with the mask, and then atleast one cloud frame, click the mask layer and oh... what is it... I think there is a tab called "new" and look around and find gradient map, then reverse the gradient; move it so you can see your image, and then start with dark colors and end with fairly almost white colors, or just fool around with it.

We have a thread on fire now. Woo. I am to tired to care. I gave up on transparency. hahahaha. And I feel good about it. If anyone wants to make this so it work on both bg colors and is transparent, I would give them a few cookies!!!

heee heee! I think smoke does not mix with 2 background colors! I actually got a verson that would have worked... but it was over 112kbz. A bit big.

It's not perfect, but it loops correctly! My first to do so. I'll get this animation stuff, yet...
