we havent had this for a while
what makes this place so special? who or what do you love most?

for me, its the great comunity, the never ending ozone traditions (altough some are a little bit stagnating atm), suho's refreshing shock treatments, and the thought that our great master, Mr. Dr. Thaddeus Ozone is watching us! apart from that i appreciate all the work inmates invest in the and in the maintenance of the asylum!

this is the coolest and also strangest place on earth

Hey! F1_error! How are you man? Haven't heard from you in... years! How's tricks, and the family and life, the universe and, like, everything?

Why do I love the Asylum? Partially for the reason F1 stated, but also becuase before I came here, and in the years since I have yet to find such a cohesive group of lunatics who are willing and able to both listen, learn and teach other people. And I've worked in schools.

The Myth- I was kidnapped by aliens. My brain was transfered to an alien sheep that had been kept on ice since March 34, 1694. Needless to say after a brief but vicious battle everything was set right, and I was free to go. And no matter what anyone tells you, no anal probes were involved.
The Reality- I went more than a little nuts for a while. I did some bad things (nothing illegal, just immoral and unethical). But as John Astin says, 'I'm feeling much better now.

Wes: Yeah, I've been waiting for the right time to pop back into play. I'll be hanging about and posting when I can. I've got to make a new sig since what was around before was two computers and four domains ago.

Hey F1 long time no see.

Just have to say that without F1's comments I doubt I would have stuck with web design/development/coding as long as I have. I remember a particular post 5 years ago by F1 telling me not to capitalize all my HTML tags, telling me that it didn't jive with something called "standards." Might have taken me about a year to fully understand what those standards things were, but after I got it I never looked back.

For me a lot is tradition, some is the thought that I will be able to spend the time that I used to at this place and the GN making improvements to myself. I doubt I can ever give back what I have gotten from here.

Right now I am spending most of my time in the Silliness forum because most of what I work on now falls way outside of the web design and development theme. I highly doubt that many people here are into Elliptic Curves, Galois Fields and the ElGamal Cryptosystem. However, I still value everything web, I try to stay as current as I can, which doesn't seem all that hard right now, not much is changing.

For all those that are depressed about the stagnation here. There are still a ton of really talented people here, more talented that you might believe, and they still post regularly. If something shifts in the web design world where it starts rapidly changing and advancing I can guarantee that this place will be a hotbed of activity just like it was in the past.

SVG for instance when that is built into IE7 and FF1.1 I am going to put money on the DHTML forum exploding with activity relating to SVG. Learning and change is the life blood of this place, and that is the main reason I love it.

At one point I felt that I put a lot of time and effort into this place and now I think I just get curious as to how it's progressed since my regular visits.
This place has always given me a greater sense of "belonging" than any other community I've come across.

i like this asylum because there are people participating in it that you can talk to, and they will not get mad at you for stating your opinion. And of course the people are fun, smart, and actually make sense when you are talking to them. IN THE SHORT, I LUV YALL!!!!! (as inmates can, not in a wierd way!)

The Asylum is a subtle mix of talented, twisted and demented people giving a strong feeling of a unique community. The traditions, though I got involved in few ones ( the DHTML ones and one or two SIGs ), are really entertainning.

I wish when I had the time I had the energy to do some image work. I lost my Wacom tablet and since then I just haven't had the energy to do anything relating to the image work.

I think another reason I really like this place because the people here evolve. And unlike a lot of other places you can see it here.
