I tried logging on here, as twItch^, a week ago or so to comment on something or other relating to the path tool or somesuch, and recognized that 1) I don't remember my password, and 2) there is no facility for retrieving aforementioned password.
Such is life, eh?
In any event, I've decided to give this place another go, without all the negativity that so often accompanied my alter-ego hitherto.
Just wanted to give a head's up. &c.

Yes, yes, things are quite good. I'm working fulltime producing books on tape for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, and finishing up the final touches on my first novel.
And, yes, I'm still active with my photoshopping, though I'll admit my style has aged just as poorly as I have.

As a (now) degreed linguist, I can say this with utter frankness: Your spelling is your own.
That said, the grammarian inside me wants to wrap full-sized Aspen trees around you people that toss around single letters to represent entire words. Oh, the blood boils.

Without a question mark, even...
However, broad pronoun references can be as vague as they need be. Particularly for plural antecedants.

Huh.
Imagine that. Things really have changed around here. I remember back in the day, when it was just me, DarkGarden, DL, vogonpoet, and a bowl of black pills.
We'd pass them around, person to person, with all the vigor of infants met with a shiny, new nipple.
...the minutiae returns.

all the best for the novel!
The minutiae had to be disbanded. I began to use it as a forum to voice my own political ambitions, mixed with an ever-increasing volume of cynicism about the world around me. It was a poison, self-administered, rather than the tonic it was meant to be. So, the grave is its preferred living quarters now.
I think it is particularly well-suited for such a morbid situation.
In any event, the novel is complete right now, with the final touches being placed. We all know how quickly I administer finishing touches, true, but now I have an editor who is mildly interested in the script, and may just go ahead and publish it for me. Which would be a step in the right direction.

I think I'll go ahead and keep the original. If only to maintain the MadSci status, and the joining date. That's always been a bit of a prideful thing, but one that I am very happy to continue.

So far as I know, it'll be popping out at some point in the next 6 months. That is if I am met with only minimal resistance to my particular editing style.
It seems having a protagonist who is, for all intents and purposes, a very unlikeable character is something editors shy away from. I cite Michael Moorcock, and they stare at me blankly. C'est la guerre.

twItch^, Welcome back.
docilebob (who had been absent for a while) was mentioning the other day how it seems that a number of people who had been lost were turning up all at once: DarkGarden, Doc Ozone, twItch^, Steve, Mikey Milker. Weadah popped in for a short time a few months ago. It's just really nice to see people who have contributed so much here coming back.
quote: So, whatever did happen to vogonpoet? Anyone?
I think VogonPoet took a new job and moved to a different city (he may have moved from the US to Endgland, I'm not sure). I think in the hassle of moving and some of the turmoil going on here he just dropped out.
I thought I ran across him again on anoethr message board about six months ago, but it turned out that he had disappeard from there as well.
I miss him and hope he shows up again sometime

Yes, yes, good to be back, and you can all be quite assured that once the novel is printed, you'll all know from where to pick it up.
And as for these halls, I think it's time to get some more design-related stuff going on here. Reading through the Quick Changes over the past several weeks, it has been a bit slim in that department. Much more needs be done.
And it's past time I got back into writing about design.
This place needs some more actual content. Let's begin.

Small Web.
It was a disturbingly fast ascent, wasn't it? I'm still reeling, actually, that they put me up there. Then again, I was given similar powers here long ago--perhaps it's my glittering personality that makes people want to give me access to break stuff.
Lord only knows.
