I am just now getting ready to find a job in web design. I posses skills such as PHP, CGI, flash, and some PS and all the other basic stuff. Now it comes time for me to put together a portflio.

What I am getting at is what exactly do I Put in a portfolio? Does it have to be whole websites or other things? Like if I wanted to show my skills in Flash, do i put in a mach interface or some animations? How about coding? Do I put some scripts I have made? And PS? and mySQL? the list goes on.

Can everyone fill me up with ideas??

Thanks

Porfolios typically involve screenshots of sites designed/developed + explanation of role in development. Snippits, screenshots and commentary, that's what they are.

So now he has an *idea* of what not to do.

Maybe you can point him to something appropriate?

Well, I'd like to think mine is passable. This was more of a rush job, but it does what it needs to: http://www.kairosinteractive.com/figdigital/

Conceptual work on the next version is in progress

I think it was supposed to be nude Al. As in Al Sharpton. I think I saw the picture on there somewhere....

mobrul

it's a little grainy, but I'm pretty sure it's Al, nude.

I like your work Fig. How did you create your resume in Flash (specifically the scroll-bar)?

Thanks rattula. The scroller is actually one that i looked around for an FLA for and eventually found one that i modified to work the way i wanted it, not exactly sure where i got that one. There is a really good one you can download and look at over on UltraShock (great resource site BTW), go into the FLA'S and under Navigation & Interface there's a Vertical Scrollbar download that works great. Hope that helps.

Fig: I really like your portfolio. It keeps your attention but comes off as quite simplistic. How do you make the Iteam demo adjust with whatever screen size you set. Maybe it's just me but I've never seen Flash adjust dynamically like that, it has alway been in a statically assign window size. Also as some one who wants to do this on there own as you are what suggestions do you have. What was the hardest to overcome and how hard to push to get business to come your way?
