How many fingers do you use by typing. I can with 10 but still find it easier to type just with 2. I guess I should improve myself |

I use 10 fingers and type pretty poorly. Harlan Ellison only uses 4 and types 180 words/min. You figure it out |

I type just as poorly with 2 as with 10. They don`t call me club fingers for nothing. I earn my title every day. |

I make use of all 10... pinkies for shift, ctrl, and enter....thumb for alt and the space bar, type pretty fast (never measured WPM..) but I use the backspace key a *lot*. |

I use all 10. I type very fast. I also do a adding machine just as fast. My uncle owned a business supply place here all my life and gave all the kids type writters and adding machine and wow did |

I never really thought about it until now, and I have to watch myself as I type this to figure it out... okay, I use 6 I think. Index through ring finger on each hand... only using my right index for hitting the space bar, and only using my right ring finger for hitting the shift key. Oh, and I type very fast. |

I am not really sure, so I am trying to think of it now as I type this... It seems I am not using the right hand smaller finger at all, and so far I have not use the left hand thumb either. I guess that make a total of eight. |

I use all ten when I type. I actually almost flunked keyboarding in HS because I couldn't type without looking at my fingers. Now I hardly ever look at them. The only strange thing I do is I only use the left shift key. I can also type very fast. |

i have absolutely no idea how many fingers i use to wtype. lemme watch as i am doing this...well, it seems i use, on my left hand, everything but the pinky, and on my right hand, i don't use the pinky or the ring finger (except i do use the ring finger to hit ' for some reason--and that's all). |

hmm... i seem to use all 10 no.... all 9. well, both of my thumbs cover the space bar. I type kinda fast and the backspace is my bes' friend. and if i think to hard about what i am typing i cant. |

I use the middle finger and thumb on my right hand and the index, middle and ring fingers on my left hand. I use the little finger on my left hand to operate the shift key. I think I type about 80 wpm. I actually took typing lessons when I was young and when I was in the Navy, but they didn't take. |

I was a hunt-&-pecker for years till I got one of the original MS Natural keyboards. Two weeks later I was typing with all 10 digits. I now have the MS Natural Internet keyboards (the ones with the blue buttons at the top) on all desktops and servers except my laptop. My wife, who worked in a law firm typing legal docs for 20 years, is amazed that I can type faster than she can. I owe it to Microsoft, believe it or not. |

I am currently typing stuff to figure out how I type it looks like I type with all my fingers except my left thumb and I only use the right shift but I do use my left pinky sometimes so that comes to a total of nine fingers this is a run on sentence but I am typing very fast currently. |

I use the number pad all the time -- just not very often during 'normal' typing. Anything in PS requiring numbers is typed with the number pad. |

Hmm, I don't know about this. I got this wierd quirk of using pretty much random fingers. I mostly use my index and middle on both hands but I seem to hover over the keyboard. 'Cus of that, I might stick out the odd pinkie or such to hit a key. |

Anyone try a Dvorak keyboard? From what I've read, most people get up to 120 wmp with no errors after only a week. I found one that is qwerty/dvorak swithable and an seriously thinking about it. Or I could just pop my keys and re-map. |

Geez, thats like the weirdest looking thing I've ever seen. I sorta always wondered what the difference would be if they just left the keys going in alphanumerical order. Instead of "qwer" it would be "abcd". I could see where putting the more used keys would be thought of, but once you get used to where they are, whats the difference, I know on one of my calculators, we have letters on it, and its in order and its pretty easy to type ... |

I use all 10 at one time or another but I can't always guarantee where they'll go! I got an "A" in highschool typing class because I fixed the typewriters when they broke. Better mechanic than typist although I do about 35-40. I'm pretty sure using the Dvorty keyboard would result in apoplexia. (try typing *that* word fast). |

I use all 10 fingers, i program a lot so I'm pretty slow(40ish) but i have good accuracy and know where all the weird symbols are. My biggest problem is putting my fingers on the wrong keys cause I'm still kinda used to putting my middle fingers(old mac layout) on the little nub instead of my pointers(pc, new mac) even though I've been using the "new" keyboards for like 2 years now. |

I use all ten. I only use my thumb when I am using large amounts of spaces, and I usually use my forefinger instead. I can type at 70 words a min' or so if its me thinking, but not as fast if I am reading off a paper or something. |
