Yay, 2000. Whodathunkit?
With my 2000th post I want to tell everyone about an opportunity that has come my way which I will accept Monday. I'm going to be changing jobs yet again.
I have an offer on the table from a company called ScriptPro. (Put that between a www. and a .com and you'll be at their homepage.) Basically they manufacture a robot that fills prescriptions at pharmacies. They are the market as far as this product is concerned having contracts with giants like Eckerd and Walgreens.
My job will be to go onsite when a pharmacy purchases the equipment and train the pharmacists on how to use the machine. Its going to require travel, but its a really sweet deal. Basically I'll be gone about 5-6 days including one day devoted just to getting there. The first work day is all training; 10-14 hours of it. The following 3 days are basically me hanging out in the pharmacy and making sure the robot is running correctly and that the employees can use it. Then I'm gone, back home for 4-5 days off.
It was a tough decision for me because I love the company I am with now and the people that I work with. In the end it came down to getting a chance to travel while I am young and have nothing to tie me down (ie: family, spouse, prison sentence), as well as the fact that I have the opportunity my first year to make $10,000 - $20,000 more a year than I could hope to make at my current job after being here 4-5 years. Considering the amount I owe to the government for "helping" me with my education, that will come in very handy.
So thats the news in my neck of the woods. I've been occupied with that and my current job lately and thats why I haven't been around here much, on ICQ, or keeping my site up to date. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on it soon.
Cheers to you all!

A funny thought just flashed as I contemplated robots filling out prescriptions ...
"DANGER, Kretsminky, DANGER!" **robot lights flash, torso swings to and fro, arms flail wildly** "The drug interaction between these two prescriptions could be fatal! DANGER, Kretsminky, DANGER!"
congrats on the new job and reaching 2000!

Wow Krets, it sounds like a really cool job. Travel some and then some days off, more money, what more could you ask for. Sounds like you will be able to learn a lot and have some fun.
I think that traveling would be a great way to see some places that you haven't and you don't have to pay for it. In fact the company pays it for you!! SWEET!!
If you are ever in the NC area, there are quite a few of us in the Asylum that live in this area, so I think that it would be great!!!!
Good luck and have fun.

But they MUST do something about that horizontal scroller at 800x600. Give 'em the smack down, Krets!

Congrats, Krets. That's a pretty damn cool-sounding job to head into. And for more money, yet!
And about the robots themselves: at least they probably won't malfunction and take over the pharmacy every week, a la Data... will they?

Congratulations Krets! Mmmmm, robots, yummy. (The extra money prolly doesn't hurt, either! :-) I like the idea of traveling, I traveled for work for nearly 3 years when I was about 25 or so, once you collect too many responsibilities this won't be a good option, so see a lot of things now, woo! Will you be flying to different places, or will you be traveling with the robot? Hope it's the latter, no better way to see the country than by car or truck.
Shiii, we already *have* a robot for these things, didn't you know? Unfortunately it's... malfunctioning some. It kept going on and on about "must destroy creator" and things like that, I felt obliged to lock it down in the basement until it grew out of that phase. Hmm, that reminds me, better go check! ... ... ... Say, has anyone been playing with the locks down in the basement? There's a few doors down here that appear to have been ripped off of their hinges, how strange.
Your pal, -doc-

Actually Doc, I'm the third "wave." The first is the setup people who set up the robot and make sure its working properly. Then a "workflow specialist" comes in and observes the overall organization of the pharmacy and makes recommendations on where to put the robot, how to organize everything, etc. Then I come in for the training. So I'll be flying to the locations unless they are close. I like it that way though so that I don't have to spend a lot of time on the road, I really don't enjoy driving at all.
