Yeah, I think it was Andy Art for me too. Brought me to Doc O's hands on tutorials. One day while visiting the tutoiral page, I saw a link to the forums. Lurked for a couple weeks, then finally joined.

First, I found ozones, some long time ago, searching for tips on Photoshop, using altavista, probably (the one I used most in the past; now I use mostly google). Then, sometime after, through ozones, I found asylum.

I found 'Hands On' through a Yahoo search.

A few months after that, Doc created a forum using the "Casual Forums" software...and I've been here since.

I got a link to ozones.com from some random guy in my "web design" class, and was very impressed (to be honest, i forget what the front page was at that time). I came back often for the next year or so, exploring, and eventually, when I knew the first few pages (near the beginning of the maze) very well, I easily noticed the link to the casual forums forum that DL mentioned. Registered there, and came here when doc transferred it.

Good question - I suspect I picked up a few wallpepers from the Doc and then marvelled at his prowess and then wandered off and wandered back and marvelled again, I think I nosed around the forum and was impressed by the quality of people here, humbled by their ability I went away to improve my skills, came back and marvelled at the Doc's work a few times, wandered through a few forums looking for a home (called in at phpbuilder and devshed), marvelled at the Doc's work some more, was searching for a site with a CSS forum to ask a question that I have never asked and never found a solution to (which will be referred to only as The Question), found the GN and wandered through to the Asylum from there.

Simple really.

i can't remember the exactness of it.
but i *think* i found it through a search in "excite" or something....... it was on page 18 or something rediculous in the search results..... it was late... i was bored.
So i clicked the linky... came here... looked around for a bit.... hopped to hands-on..... hopped to the GN.... came back again.....
did some lurking.....
did some more lurking...
tried not to open my mouth to reveal my online ignorance...
started an account....
asked some dumb questions..... offered absolutely horrible advice..... realized i was a moron....
stopped posting.... went back to lurking....

lurk lurk lurk...
started a new account in late November of 2000... and decided that i needed to use my head and think before i started talking, or posting my attempts with photoshop if i wanted to be taken seriously.

And here i am.

DG that was pretty damn funny.... Not any slimie can project my emotions of laughter right now....

Ahhhh.... Twas back in my days on the MSN Gaming Zone.... I was a regular player of a game called ants... And it was all the rage to be able to make websites back in that day. So I started my usual page builder newbie shit... Then I realized my results compared to HTML made sites were less than appealing. I also noticed... My graphics sucked! So first one of my friends who was a major warez hacker gave me an unliscenced copy of PS4. And I also d/led PSP 7. And I came to making a few graphics that were pretty cool. But I noticed my sites sucked. So one of my friends told me to go to www.htmlgoodies.com and I went on and learned the basics, got myself a hypermart accout. So after a lot of wasted weekends staying up late and working on websites I came across a website made for someone in ants. Damn I wish I could find the website... Well anyway it had a blue ball with what appeared to be some electric rings around them. I was astonished! Also I noticed this persons flash skills were pretty damn good, and I had expirimented with flash a little bit, but I never figured out how to make the little loading animation while it was loading. So one day I cought him on ZFriends for a quick second asking him how he did the loading anim and the electric orbs... His name was DuNDuNDuNDa and he had a site that was dunbox.net but it isn't there anymore. Anyway he refered me to www.ozoneasylum.com and I looked around the photoshop halls and posted my first post... I was amazed to see some of the art work done here... Actually almost shit my pants! So I joined, made a crappy sig, and started my ridiculous posts!

I believe I was doing a Google search for Photoshop help, found one of Doc's tutorials, noticed the Asylum link, and stumbled in. Someone shut and locked the door behind me, and I've been here ever since.

I think my first post was in the Photoshop forum, and it was a while before I worked up the courage to actually visit some of the other forums here.

It's only been five months, but somehow it seems like a whole lot longer.

I was search'n for Corel Photopaint tutorials!... Back in 1998 I think -- saw docs HandsOn site --fell to my knees. Switched to using Photoshop.

Then some years later I returned to see if the man how started me on the righteous path had any more pearls of wisdom for me. Then I found the link to the forum.

My first couple of posts here were in the site reviews forum. I lurked for all of an hour. I was amazed to find such honest people and was tired of the constant "i like your stuff" or "your stuff is cool" comments that had no substance. I wanted real comments, real advice from real people who knew their shit and knew it well. Suffice to say, I found quite a few of them.

Michael said: "oh... and i'd also like to say...

He he, I managed to do that with my second post!

~sigh~

I was bag'n him about not supporting NN4 in his new CCS only website. Which sounds like a silly thing to do but a bunch of us still used NN4 as out default browser back then (Yes, VP wasn't da only one). I, like so many other people, mistook his arrogance as part stupidity. Although it was the following email discussion with stephen that made me change over to IE5.

Heh...I was in WebDesign school at the time...was searching for photoshop tuts using Metager. Found Web Developers...there was a link to Hands On. Really liked that, so I spend some time at Ozones (funny, never visited the forum, though). Found a link to the GN...hung around there for a while...very nice. Got some really good advice on how to create rubber...someone there (I think it was JKMabry) mentioned the Asylum...came over here...jumped on Jeni with my first post...(well, second. My first post was probably the worst graphic the world has ever seen...). Then I got shown 'the ropes' not sure who that was...I think it was reitsma...apologized, then I got royally burned...hehe...Ray...I'm not sure who first decided to 'have fun' with my pic...maybe Krets? It went for a whole thread...after that, I stayed, learned, grew...I've always been thankful for that...kept me humble.
