A be-stubbled, grey-suited figure rushes by the end of the corridor carrying a laptop bag and looking flustered, his face turning as though noticing something out of the corner of his eye. The footsteps falter a pace or two, then stop.

The sound of last foot fall slips away sluggishly through the still air. A beat or two pass.

A heel scuffs the pristine floor as the figure turns, rounding the corner at a more leisurely pace. He tuts and sighs, momentarily dismayed at his own absent-mindedness. It isn't a resigned sigh however, but more like that moment when you find the right road and realise that you knew where it was all along.

He wanders back among the images. You might not tell it by the square of his jaw or the set of his shoulders, but he is glad now; glad he walked back this way, and glad to be reminded of the task.

As if noticing Templar for the first time, he steps forward, beaming.

"Hey Temps - sorry. I've been so..." His mobile interrupts, chirping three sonorous notes. "Ah. Work calling."

He pats himself down before remembering the phone is stuffed into a pocket on his laptop bag.

"I've got to take this," he says, moving back towards the end of the corridor and fumbling with the velcro fastener, "but I'll be back. I've got a couple of ideas. I'll see you..."

He breaks-off to answer the phone, voice dropping into 'business mode'. With a nod and a smile to Templar, he walks briskly back the way he came. Before the end of a moment's thought, his voice trails away behind the footfalls. Somewhere, a door opens and the footfalls mingle with the muted babble of the asylum.

The door closes.

Hey Temps! I know I'm a bad, bad boy, but I have taken the day off work today. I took the day off work just so I could have the time to catch up on a few things (including this thread). If I can find the inspiration, I should post this evening!

Incoming!

A fumble in the corner... the door creaks open again.

Apparently someone in quite a hurry wizzed through the door... too bad for old Temps who has a liking to look in the corners. He rubs his nose in quite a frenzy and checks if nothings broken... looks down the corridor and there be a figure in the distance! Holding a bag that figure looming in front... confusion arises and Templar forgets the combination which was to his locker.

The figure looks familiar but blurry, perhaps by the red out from the door, a drip of something falls from old Temps nose and onto the floor; is it blood or yesterdays lunch he can't decide! Then all of the sudden the images wizz by the past that once was calls again! Was this the reason for him to cross this path or was he just finding his way to the carnival in the back!

Alas whatever the reason be, he is alone now in this wretched maroon sea... the figure in the distance starts to faint... so do the walls, the floor and the corners he so liked. The images they start to glow and shiver but still he can't remember... who in God's name... was that figure?

Templar all confused and disturbed sits in the corner that once was... the images in front start to grow vivid and dance in his hunt. The hunt which was to find the carnival but that figure was in front! Templar annoyed gathers his courage and moves towards the blur, one step a time this hair a mile seemed like forever. This disturbance which occured caused him to write this on the wall, "Beware the figure in the distance, whose shade but makes you fall".

But again he continues and moves ahead, when suddenly a sound beckons him to his bed. Mummies calling it's time to go, the figure still in the distance; How long will it stand there oh so tall? A reckoning for us all! Templar now scared just wants to go home, to bang his head on the walls; perhaps he'll find some peace this way, his nose still dripping from the doorway!

Damn your post ruined the mood!! It came before mine... way before mine! Oh well serves up!!

PS: Why you writting so small?? Fall in love with the [small] tag!

Two reasons:

1) Yes. Never realised before that the Small tag could be stacked (noobie).
2) My thinking is that this thread has so much chatter that it should be shrunk to conserve space! lol

Okay, okay - I sat down with my laptop, in the yard, enjoying a little sunshine, and spent ages just trying to think of something for this serve. Eventually, the fact that I had no ideas (while I had the time) despite having loads of ideas when time was otherwise sparse, became a bit of a frustration. I thought about time and inspiration - how they never seem to come together. I considered how time-travelling technology might help...

...and before I knew it, hours had passed. I'd been thinking about it so much that I hadn't actually done anything, and now I was out of time! It seemed that time and thought were proving to be mutually exclusive entities. I got lost in thought and ended up losing time altogether!

So this is the somewhat lacklustre result. I have to admit, after staring at the dull screen of my laptop in bright sunlight, I wasn't surprised to discover that the colour was way off when I checked it on my desktop PC.

BTW - check out the laptop screen for preceding serve references...

Yeah, yeah, I know - I should be flogged for the rhyme... :P

... 10 months .... this is how long this game has been going on ...

Nice serve, by the looks of it a quickie but nice

I've made a serve but I don't think it can be called tech... I'm thinking of something better. Will upload soon!

Hey Templar - I have just looked at that last serve and can't believe how ratty it looks. Yes, it certainly does look like a bit of a quickie, doesn't it?

I know it's cheeky: -

...but I kept the original content, and just polished it up a little. Probably just broke a lod of rules, but it's a mish-mash game anyway (and I like it that way ).

I couldn't help noticing that loads of the previous images are no longer where they are supposed to be, so I have compiled a quick list from my hard drive (like Temp's update umpteen pages ago).



Each image is named "pongme",<serveNo.(##)>,<creator>,<imageshackNo.(###)> - so credits are in the names.

My host is freakin' up again. I've got another one just for uploading stuff like this. I'll upload them there as well just in case

I'm in college right now so I can't upload anything, will do once I get home.

Alright I'm home! I uploaded all our serves to my host and I think it's best that we all just upload there. I've made a login for the asylum:

... this login's available for anyone in the asylum who wants to quickly upload something and then just get rid of it later and of course for the Pong section

Well, I think I have momentarily satisfied the immediate need for a serve of some sort. That, I believe, makes it somebody else's serve next, doesn't it?

Whew!! Has this thread been there that long!! I've just gone through 10 months of posts!!

I personally hate having to flip the pages, so prefer displaying the full thread in forums.

10 months in (just under) ten pages! 354 posts (inc. this one) and only 24 serves.

Stomach's holding up - I have made the full conversion to soya milk and wholegrain breads, avoided chips and fried foods in favour of salads and grilled.

Doesn't really seem to make an awful lot of difference. I'm probably dying or something - not that any old NHS doctor would notice or anythin.

Such is life (health, death, whatever).

I'll be doing some Photoshopping this weekend, so should have a serve over the next 3-4 days.

White Hawk:
Nice to hear about the conversion over to better foods. Hope your stomach lets you enjoy yourself! (aside from food)

Templar:
I don't remember every post in here, actuly I don't know anybody who does. So "last man standing" eh? This match may remain until the Asylum itself seizes to exist. One thing is for sure, this is historical, not to mention monumental for this period.
